Daniel A. Buduo, Sr., 94, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away very peacefully, on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th, 2025.
Daniel was born in Worcester, one of seven children of Andrew Buduo, Sr. and Anna (Bronzo) Buduo. He was raised in the Italian neighborhood off Shrewsbury Street and at a young age, left high school to join the family business A. Buduo Trucking. Dan then left the business, to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon discharge and return home, he rejoined his father and married the love of his life Barbara E. Mazzeo. They settled in the Harrington Way neighborhood to raise their family. Dan continued to operate the family business guiding it to prominence by expanding into the building of structures, roads and bridges. Upon retirement, he spent most of life in West Palm Beach Florida and summers on Cape Cod.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Barbara; his children, Dr. Debra Buduo of Brookline who oversees her parent's care, David Buduo, of Worcester, Dennis Buduo of Millbury, Daniel A. Buduo, Jr,. and his wife Julia of Worcester; grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Davis, Dorothy Marin, Beverly Bartolomei and her husband Raymond. Dan also leaves behind, several beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He also continued contact with family members in Puglia, Italy with the help of his daughter Debra. In addition to his parents, a sister, Ann Marie Cormier passed away this past January 4th, a brother Andrew Buduo, Jr., and another sister Barbara Tripp, all predeceased him.
When retiring around the age of 60 he enjoyed rounds of golf with his beloved wife Barbara both in Florida and Cape Cod. Entertaining family and friends was a commonality anywhere they were. Danny enjoyed gathering his aunts and sisters for luncheons and dinners. He was a member of Pope John XXIII, Knights of Columbus, the Italian Club also the Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach for a few years. Danny and Barbara enjoyed frequenting the Cape Cod Playhouse on Saturday nights as season tickets holders. For close to 40 years, they enjoyed Aruba and loved a cocktail hour on the beach with the same Aruba friends year after year. Dan and Barbara enjoyed cruises and traveling all around the world including Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and Rio De Janeiro. Danny was interested in exploring new places and new ideas. With that mindset gave him the interest in all kinds of people from all different walks of life. He was a lifetime and longtime loyal friend to so many. Danny lived his life his way and always on his terms.
The Buduo family would like to thank the competent and caring staff on the Cardiac floor and the Mugar building of Cape Cod Hospital. Danny soon became many nurses favorite sneaking over to his room to check on him even if they were not assigned to him. Also, to the staff at Mayflower Rehabilitation Center in Yarmouth and the Dennis Fire Department who were always so caring each time they were called. A very special thanks to his personal caregivers Susie Q, Anne and many others.
A period of calling hours will be held Monday, June 2nd from 8:30 am to 10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, followed by a procession to St Brigid’s Church, 59 Main St Millbury, where his celebration of Christian burial mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial with Military honors will follow in St Brigid’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Maplewood at Mayflower Rehabilitation Center, 579 Buck Island Rd, West Yarmouth, Ma 02673 or the Cardiac Care Center of Cape Cod Hospital, 27 Park Street, Hyannis, Ma.
