Cecilia M. (L’Erario) DiPilla Belculfine, 89 of Shrewsbury, peacefully accepted God’s care on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Born in Bisceglie, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Nicoletta (Squeo) L’Erario. At 17, Cecilia and her mother emigrated to Worcester and settled in the Shrewsbury St. neighborhood. She worked for many years as a seamstress before later serving as a teacher’s aide in the Worcester Public Schools. Cecilia was a longtime member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Worcester before attending St. Anne’s Parish in Shrewsbury. Cecilia enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and cooking, especially during the holidays.
Cecilia was predeceased by her first husband, Pasquale DiPilla, in 1969, and by her second husband, Joseph J. Belculfine, in 2019.
She leaves her four sons and their families: Dr. Dominick DiPilla, DMD, and his wife Nancy; John DiPilla and his wife Andrea; Anthony DiPilla and his wife Valerie; and Vincent DiPilla and his wife Sandra.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Kali and Nicolette DiPilla; Jillian and Nicholas DiPilla; Devon (DiPilla) Boelke, her husband Christopher, and their son Grayson, who brought renewed joy to Cecilia’s life; Patrick and Alissa DiPilla; Drew DiPilla, his wife Katelyn, and Morgan DiPilla. She was predeceased by her brothers, Vincenzo and Giovanni L’Erario.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
