Carole F. McDermott

December 20, 1934 — August 19, 2023

Carole F. (Marrone) McDermott, 88, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, longtime resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at The Overlook in Charlton with her family by her side.

Carole was born in Worcester, off Shrewsbury Street, the daughter of the late George and Antoinette (Santora) Marrone and was a graduate from Commerce High School.  She taught ceramics for over 20 years where she was the owner of Carole’s Ceramics. She later worked as an administrative assistant for the City of Worcester in various departments.

Carole was an artist at heart and had a passion for crafts and art, especially ceramics. She was a talented baker and cook. Her passion for both crafts and confectioneries was how she spread her love.  Carole especially enjoyed making Birthday and wedding cakes for both her family and friends. She was famous for her pizzas and devil dog cakes and if she made you one you knew she loved you. Carole’s favorite Holiday was Christmas. She loved to decorate her house and bake Italian cookies and Cinnamon rolls. Carole enjoyed baking with her grandchildren the most.

Carole had a lifelong love of the beach and spent her summers at her home in Marshfield packed with family and friends.  Carole’s true passion was family.  She was a great mother and grandmother, “Nan” & “Nanny” and loved them more than anything. She will be missed by them dearly and by all who knew and loved her.

Carole is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, James F. McDermott; their three children, Michael F. McDermott of Lancaster, MA, Patricia Jaworski and her husband Richard of Charlton and James E. McDermott and his wife Heather of Worcester; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jr. and his wife Liz, Mark, Matthew, Julie, Thomas, Catherine and Ryan; five great grandchildren, Kelsie, Brooke, Aidan, Emmy and Kinsley; her sister, Elaine McGrath of Worcester;  a niece, Shannon Klose; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sullivan and Kathleen Abraham both of Worcester; many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her brother, George Marrone.
