Brian A. Pitts 66 passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 24th, 2025 after a long battle with congestive heart disease. Brian fought the good fight against a number of chronic illnesses and his quiet strength and resilience was a testimony to all.
Brian was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Dorothy (Holmes) Pitts and Alfred Pitts before moving to New Britain, CT as a teenager. He graduated from Pulaski High School in New Britain. After high school he earned a scholarship to Johnson & Wales for Culinary Arts but chose to become a U.S. Marine. After leaving the military he pursued and earned a degree in Computer Technology, but he realized he loved to work in Construction and had a long career working in Construction and also pursuing his love of cooking by working as a chef in CT and MA. Upon retirement he continued to work in various kitchens because cooking was his true love. Brian loved a good meal and a great drink, and especially loved going to his cousin, Kiesha’s for family gatherings and being surrounded by loved ones.
Brian loved sports notably football, basketball, baseball and Golf, once sinking a hole in one. He loved music of all kinds especially Jazz and Old School R & B and travel. Brian was always unapologetically himself with a great smile and huge heart.
Brian is survived by two children he adored, his son, Reinaldo A. Pitts of Spencer, and Damorada Rodriguez and her husband Kristian of West Brookfield; his “Sister Dear”, Kimberly J. L. Pitts of Somerville; two grandchildren he cherished, Isabella and Ceasar; his beloved nephews, Craig Holmes, Sr., Shane Holmes, and his beloved niece, Celeste Holmes and niece in love Josette Matos. He leaves his Grand Nieces Shaelina Holmes, Sade Holmes, and Shaenna Holmes, his beloved Grand Nephew Jordan Strong , Craig Holmes, Jr and Great Grand Nephews Jhaedon Holmes-Stern and Bobby Skinner Jr,; a host of cousins far too many to list, but he leaves his Cousin Barry Scott with whom he was very close, his breakfast buddy Steve Jenkins, his buddy Julio Silva and lots of friends and extended family including a Step Brother Rodney Jackson. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Richard Holmes and Great Nephew, Javon Holmes.
A period of calling hours will be held Monday, December 15th 10:30 am to 12 Noon followed by a Memorial Service in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel 370 Plantation St. Worcester, MA. Burial in Hope Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his Mother and close to his big brother. will follow. May he rest in eternal peace and power; he will be dearly missed.
