Bernard "Bernie" Bonne

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bernard “Bernie” Bonne, 96, of Worcester, on Saturday, April 25, 2026. He joins the love of his life Silvana “Chippy” in heaven.

Born in Djimahi, Indonesia on May 24, 1929, Bernie was the son of the late Gerrit and Toeminah (Wongsodrkromo) Bonne.

Bernie was renowned for his love of gardening, music, books, travel, socializing and a good conversation.

Bernie is survived by his loving children, Charles (Sue), Robert and Mark (Donna) Bonne; his adored grandchildren; Alec, Amanda, Nicholas, Matthew, Jonathan, Ian and Finley; his dear great grandchild, Piper; and many good friends and neighbors. Sadly, in addition to his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his daughter Mary.

The family wants to acknowledge and thank Debra (Tony), who Bernie thought of as a daughter, for love, caring, compassion and kindness in taking care of him.

Though Bernie is no longer with us, we will forever miss him, we will carry him with us in all that we do.

A calling hour will be held for Bernie on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 9:30am until his Funeral Service beginning at 10:30am in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will immediately follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bernie’s memory to a charity of their choice or the American Diabetes Foundation.
