Barbara M. Savasta

Barbara M. (Luciano) Savasta, 84 of Rutland passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Achille R. and Jennie (Giacobbe) Luciano. She grew up in Worcester and lived there for over 40 years until moving to Rutland 12 years ago. Barbara worked as the kitchen supervisor for the Sisters of Notre Dame and was a teacher at St. Peter Marian Catholic High School and KinderCare for many years.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved to keep a tidy home; family was her world. She also loved cooking, baking, dancing, music and camping in her younger years.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Michael R. Savasta, Sr.; two sons, Michael R. Savasta, Jr. and his wife Kim of Hubbardston and Mark Savasta and his wife Amy of Rutland; a sister, Ann Fasano of Worcester; three grandchildren, Kristina Savasta and her fiancé Travis Hannah and Jonathon Savasta all of Hubbardston and Anthony Savasta of Rutland; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Luciano and a sister, Carol Gosselin.

Barbara’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Danielle of UMass Hospice and her caregiver, June, for their compassion and all the special attention and care given to her in her final days.

Services for Barbara will be held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
