Arthur M. Flora, 70 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025 at home, surrounded by his family.
Arthur was born in Plattsburgh, New York, a son of the late Vaughn J. and Jean A. (Spear) Flora. He grew up in New York where he graduated from Willisboro Central School and later earned an associate’s degree in mechanics from State University of New York in Canton. Arthur was a hard worker and a carpenter alongside his brother-in-law and nephews at Shorten Building and Remodeling for many years before retiring in 2008.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Leona Toedt; their daughter, Kerri Toedt who was the light of his life and her fiancé Stephon Cherry of Worcester; three grandchildren, Shawn Bryant, Braylon Cherry and Cameron Cherry all of Worcester; a great grandson, Kareem Bryant; a brother, Richard F. Flora of Plattsburgh, NY; two sisters, Lois Shorten and her husband Brian of Spencer, MA and Betty Vozzolo of Willsboro, NY; a sister-in-law, Beryl Champagne of Swanton, VT; a niece Lyndsay and his nephews whom he was very close to, Patrick, Douglas and Richard Shorten. Besides his parents, Arthur is predeceased by a brother, Nicholas V. Flora; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Flora and a brother-in-law, Daniel Vozzolo.
Arthur enjoyed his daily trips to Ramstrom Service Center talking with his good friend Ricky about the NY Yankees and NASCAR followed by Gallagher’s Pub. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He never missed a football game for his grandson, Shawn and he loved picking his grandchildren up from school telling them daily jokes. Kerri was Arthur’s world, and he never once disappointed her as a dad. Her most cherished memories were their Sunday drives as a kid, driving by houses he built so he could admire his work, teaching her card games and most important summers with family in New York on Lake Champlain.
Arthur’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his hospice team in particular, Stephanie, Robin, Tatiana, Joyce, Cindy, Maureen, Karen and Rev. John Neilon from Notre Dame Hospice and Nick and Sam from Elder Services for the outstanding care and compassion they gave Arthur in his time of illness.
