It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful man and longtime local business owner, Armando Sodano, 72, of Charlton, on Sunday May 10th, 2026, after a series of health challenges.
Armando was born in Marigliano, a province of Naples, Italy. He was one of four children of Salvatore and Grazia “Grace” (Barbato) Sodano. Raised in Italy, Armando immigrated to the United States with his family in 1967, at the age of 14. Armando met the love of his life, Christina “Tina” Setaro in 1980 and were married June 28th, 1987, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. They built their life of faith, family and love in Worcester and then Charlton, raising their family. On April 11th 1981, Armando established Armando’s The Ultimate in Men’s Fashion, on Grafton street, nurturing it alongside Tina and their son Armando, through personal relationships, customer kindness, quality and service.
Armando is survived by the love of his life, Tina; their three children, Adriana Landry and her husband Justin of Charlton, Armando S. Sodano of Worcester, and Gabriella Sodano of Charlton; two granddaughters that he cherished, Lena and Fiona, and his pet dogs, Natasha Sodano and Cristobal Sodano; two siblings; three brothers in law, John “Slugger” Setaro and his partner Susan Haines, Michael “Buster” Setaro and his partner Karen Fields, Anthony “Tony” Setaro and his wife Holly, and sister in law Leanne Setaro. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends. Armando is reunited in heaven with his parents, brother, his treasured aunt, Teresa Cacciate, and brother-in-law Billy Setaro.
Armando loved meeting people, talking with his customers, who would come into the store for a story, a laugh, or just to say hi. He could light up any room he entered and made friends everywhere he went. Armando enjoyed cooking, playing with his grandchildren, traveling back to Italy to see family, tending to his vegetable garden, and cheering for Napoli’s soccer team. He especially loved driving his prized 1970 red Jaguar to Federal Hill for ice cream, with his wife by his side. He was a man dedicated to family, community and his customers.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather Sunday, May 17th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral Mass and burial in Notre Dame cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. www.heart.org/donate.
