Herta Culbert

Herta E. "Hattie" (Oldenburg) Culbert 77, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday March 26, 2008 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center 119 Belmont St. with her children by her side. Her husband Joseph Culbert died in 2003. Hattie is survived by a son Johnny C. Culbert and his wife Toni of Worcester, and a daughter Ellen L. Culbert- Johnston and her husband Marty of Worcester, two brothers Manfred and Max Oldenburg of Germany, two sisters Gerda Hunnenmorder in Germany, and Erika Taylor Of California, and many nephews and nieces. Hattie was predeceased by a son Mark in 1981, and two brothers, Horst and Hugo Oldenburg. Hattie was born in West Germany daughter of Max and Erna (Dobranz) Oldenburg and came to the United States many years ago settling in Worcester. Hattie worked as a cook at the former Belmont Home for many years before she retired. She was a long time member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and their Golden Years Club. Hattie loved tending to her garden, loved to cook, and was an avid postcard collector. But her most precious times were spent with her family. She will be missed by her family and friends. Hattie's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Sunday March 30th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St John's Cemetery.
