Lena M D'Onofrio

Lena M. "Grammy" (Mastrototaro) D'Onofrio, 70, of Worcester died peacefully March 5, 2008 in the University Commons surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Lena is survived by her husband of 46 years Joseph D'Onofrio, two sons Joseph Jr. and Vincent D'Onofrio both of Worcester, two grandchildren, Michael Anthony Brownell, and Anthony Vincent D'Onofrio, three brothers Pasquale of Lynn Massachusetts, Anthony of Worcester, and Maurice 2nd "Chicky" Mastrototaro of Florida, three sisters, Sophie Welch, Ida DeMauro,Mary Alexandrov all of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. Lena was predeceased by two brothers Maurice Mastrototaro who was killed in action in the attack on Pearl Harbor, and Andrew Mastrototaro Sr. who died last August, and two sisters Elizabeth Cavalieri, and Theresa Peterson. Lena was born in Worcester daughter of Joseph and Dora (Parziale) Mastrototaro and lived here all her life. She worked in the service department at the UMASS Memorial Hospital, Belmont Street for many years before she retired. Lena was also a volunteer at University Commons, and the Hermitage Nursing Homes for many years. She was a dedicated and loving mother and wife who loved to cook and be a homemaker.She will be missed. By her family and friends.Lena was a life member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church. She loved playing bingo, and enjoyed going to the casino. Lena's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel- St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are 5-8PM on Thursday (tonight) Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
