Robert Malanson

May 13, 1936 — February 3, 2008

Robert D. Malanson, 71, of Auburn died peacefully Sunday February 3, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Joan E. (Tonelli) Malanson, three daughters; Linda A. Sansoucy and her husband Mark of Worcester, Susan E. Michalowski and her husband Timothy of Worcester, and Patricia A. Malanson of Auburn. Robert is also survived by four grandchildren; Bobby and Trevor Sansoucy, Jessica and Joe Michalowski, a nephew and niece. Robert was born in Worcester son of Wesley and Eileen (McNamee) Malanson and lived here most of his life before moving to Auburn eleven years ago. Robert was a graduate of St. Peters High School, and was a sailor in the Navy Reserves for many years.He was chosen sailor of the year in 1965. Robert retired after 20 years with the City Of Worcester as the Assistant Director Of Purchasing. Previous to that he was the Manager for Bob Devlin Sporting Goods Company for 29 years.He was a member of St Joseph's Church in Auburn, and was a former member of Our Lady Of The Angels Men's Club. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all his family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Seidler and the Oncology staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Robert's illness. Robert's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St Joseph's Church 189 Oxford St. Auburn. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5-8PM on Tuesday. Burial will be in St John.s Cemetery.
