Lila Zeena, 81 of Worcester passed away Monday January 18th 2010 with her devoted family by her side. Lila was born March 23, 1928 in Homs, Syria the daughter of Toufeek and Najeeba (Alakrass) Zeena. She grew up and lived in Syria until moving to the United States in 1977. Lila's husband Hashem Nasser passed away in 1963. She is survived by her cherished family, a son Habeeb Nasser and his wife Soheir Sidhom of Norwood, a daughter, Magda Nasser and her husband Douglas Walker of Worcester; two brothers, Fouad Zeena whom she shared a very special bond of Homs Syria and George Zeena of Leicester; two sisters, Remond Zeena of Damascus Syria and Georgette Zeena of Homs Syria; three adored grandchildren, Soraya Youssef and her husband Charles, Mike Rashid, and Mohammad Rashid; seven great grandchildren, Alexandra, Celina, Joanna, Sophia, Omar, Amal, and Rami; nieces, nephews and friends. Lila worked many years for the Presmet Corporation before retiring. She was a member of St George Orthodox Cathedral. A longtime church kitchen volunteer and cook for many of the Church functions and committees over the years. She was a dedicated mother who received her inspiration from being around her children, grandchildren and especially her brother Fouad and his family. She will be truly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Thursday, January 21st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. and 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday January 22nd in the church. A trisagion service will be celebrated Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral building Fund, 30 Anna St. Worcester.
