Joseph Monfreda

Joseph A. Monfreda,87, of Worcester died peacefully Friday February 18, 2011 in the St. Francis Home.surrounded by his loving family. Joseph is survived by his wife of 54 years Anna (Palma) Monfreda, a daughter Congetta "Connie" Gustafson and her husband Lawrence of Worcester,two grandsons, Joseph and Michael, and one brother George Monfreda of Worcester, several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four brothers; Frank, Louis, Peter, and Albert Monfreda. Joseph was born in Worcester son of the late Peter and Congetta (Arcieri) Monfreda and lived here all his life. He was a Machinist at the Kennedy Die Casting Company for 31 years before he retired. Joseph was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church. Joe enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling with his wife especially to Italy to visit with relatives, and loved listening to his Italian music. But most of all he enjoyed being with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Joseph's funeral will be held Tuesday February 22, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday from 5PM to 7PM. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
