Andrew M Gelok

Andrew M. "Andy" Gelok, Jr., 77, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 in UMass Hospital. Andy is survived by his loving family, including, a son, Andrew M. George of Worcester; a daughter, Lori Franciose and her husband Anthony of Barre; a brother, Ray Gelok of Clifton, NJ; three sisters, Linda Sullivan-Bailey of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, Hannah Kab of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and MaryAnn Insigna of Passaic, NJ; two grandsons, Matthew and Justin Franciose; many nieces and nephews. Andy was born in Passaic, New Jersey, son of Andrew M. Sr. and Anna (DeBoer) Gelok. He was educated in New Jersey and then served his nation proudly in The United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Andy worked for Thom McAn Shoe Company for close to forty years, retiring as the Distribution Center Manager. He was a hard working family man, who rarely missed a day of work. Andy loved and was loved by his family, friends and neighbors; and was well respected for his truthfulness and loyalty. He loved the outdoors, raised pigeons all his life and was a very enthusiastic gardener. He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Andy's family on Wednesday, October 10, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. for a time of visitation, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
