Dakhil Bekhitan, 80, of Worcester formerly of Syria passed away Friday, December 21st in his home surrounded by the family he loved so much. Dakhil was born in Damascus, Syria, one of four children born to Naser and Maryam (Touffaha) Bekhitan. He grew and lived in Syria until moving to the United States after retirement to be with his children. Dakhil is survived by his wife of 60 years Widad (Sabha) Bekhitan his ten children, Mary Bekhitan, Entisar Hattar, Ebtehaje Nasrah, Emad, Yousef, Hussam and Wasim Bekhitan all of Worcester, and three children Naser, Fadia Bekhitan, and Jihad all of Syria; 21 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces. nephews and friends. He was pre deceased by 2 brothers and a sister. Dakhil worked as a self-employed painter in Syria. He enjoyed being the family's handyman, He loved family life, and enjoyed traveling back to his native Syria to visit children, relatives and friends. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 26th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Thursday, December 27th from the funeral home with a service at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help church, 256 Hamilton St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
