Alessandrina (Martone) Amoroso, 87 of Jefferson, formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 18th 2013 surrounded by her devoted family in the Holy Trinity Nursing Home. Alessandrina was born in San Nicola, Province of Caserta Italy, one of four daughters of Salvatore and Concetta (Grilla) Martone, she grew up in Italy, met and in 1948 married her husband of the next 44 years Antonio Amoroso; together they immigrated to the United States in 1973 settling in Worcester and lived here until moving to Jefferson in 1995. Handy with her hands Alessandrina worked as a stitcher for the Worcester Knitting Company over 16 years before retiring in 1992. She previously worked for Davies Handbags. Alessandrina husband Antonio passed away in 1992; She is survived by the family she loved so much; Her six children, Antonia "Toni" Cappuccio and her husband Carlo with whom she lived, Carmela Fois in Caserta, Italy, Salvatore Amoroso and his wife Concetta of Worcester, Angelo Amoroso and his wife Mary of Rutland, Dominic Amoroso of Brookfield, Luciano "Luke" Amoroso and his wife Karen of Oxford; two sisters, Antonia Ventriglia and Addolorata Smarra both of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and extended family; a son in law Mario Fois, daughter in law Ruth Amoroso and a sister, Marianna Dellomo all pre deceased her. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she took great pride in her Italian Heritage and passed it on to her family. She loved to cook, bake and make Italian specialties. Holidays were very special and nobody that entered her home left without having something to eat. Her family was her pride and nothing made her more proud that having them around her as often as she could. She loved to travel back to Italy, to the Cape, Camp and be with her sisters. She was the life of any party and could light up any room she entered. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Sunday, September 29th 2013 from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Monday, September 30th from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment will follow with her husband in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
