Josephine B. (Vincequere) Drenzek, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Friday, October 11th 2013 with family by her side after a brief period of declining health. She was 89 years of age and would have celebrated her 90th birthday November 26th. Josephine was born in Worcester; one of seven children of Italian immigrants Anthonio and Elizabeth (Quintavalla) Vincequere. She grew up on the Eastside of Worcester and graduated from Commerce High. In 1947, Josephine met and married in 1948, the man who would become her husband for the next 51 years Walter J. Drenzek. Together they settled here to raise their family until Walter passed away 1999. She continued to live in the home she loved until her health made that not possible and moved in for a time with her daughter. She also worked as a Crossing Guard for the City of Worcester School Department over 10 years until retiring. Josephine is survived by her two children, Mary E. Zona of Worcester and Francis J. Drenzek and his wife Michele of Rye, N.H.; the three grandchildren she loved so much, Kristofer Drenzek, Rocco and Natale Zona; her former son in law, Richard Zona; Many nieces, nephews , extended family and friends. A grandson, Giovanni Zona passed away in 1996; Four brothers, Anthony, Thomas, Clemente and Lazarus J. Vincequere and two sisters, Mary "Mae" DeFusco, and Lucille Robichaud all pre deceased her. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and the Sigma Nu Gamma society for over 40 years. Josephine was a simple lady devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She always cherished her Italian heritage and made sure she passed it on to her family. She loved to cook, bake and take care of her home. The times she could spend with her entire family especially her grandchildren, are what made her the happiest The funeral will be held Tuesday, October 15th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with A Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to her husband will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, October 14th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the funeral home. The Drenzek family would like to thank the Staff of the St Francis Home for the care, compassion and understanding they gave to Josephine during a difficult time.
