Gerald F. “Gerry” Bartholomew, Jr., 61 of Auburn, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital with his loving family by his side.Gerry was born in Worcester, a son of the late Gerald F. and Ruth Ann (Carelli) Bartholomew, Sr. where he was a graduate of St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School. He later received an associate’s degree from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. Gerry worked as a metallurgist for Wyman Gordon for 32 years. He later was the owner of a Jan Pro franchise, retiring earlier this year. Gerry is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Gloria J. Bartholomew; his son and daughter, Ryan F. Bartholomew of Millbury and Jennifer L. Bartholomew and her partner, John J. Coons, Jr. of Worcester; three brothers, Neil R. Bartholomew of Ponte Vedra, FL, Paul K. Bartholomew of Putnam, CT and Jon M. Bartholomew of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Beth E. Bartholomew and Gayle Falvey both of Shrewsbury; many nieces and nephews.Gerry was an avid New England Sports Fan with a great love of the Red Sox. He loved playing golf, especially with his son, and was proud to have achieved a hole-in-one in 2002. He was known as the trivia king – always able to answer questions across a broad spectrum of topics. He was a loyal and true friend to so many and could always be counted on for support and his incredible sense of humor; specifically in how everyone was assigned a unique nickname. Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Funeral service and burial will be held privately.
