Listen to Obituary
She passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by her family on January 26, 2018. Nancy was an LPN until her daughter was born. She volunteered much of her time at the Holt Elementary School and Whitman Middle School.  During this time, she earned recognition for her volunteer work.  She later worked for Ambassador Cards until she joined the team at the Sheraton Braintree as a concierge for several years.  Nancy was again recognized for her hard work as Team Member of the Month several times. Nancy was an avid fisherman. Her favorite spot was on the Powder Point Bridge. She had the opportunity to take many Caribbean Cruises with her husband and family. Her favorite cruise memories were the Kon-Tiki Boat in St. Thomas and Orient Beach in St Maarten. She loved having her grandchildren Connor and Cadence sleep over, playing hot and cold and big warm hugs from Lila. She was dedicated to creating wonderful memories for her family. Nancy will be remembered by her family and friends for her selflessness, love for her family, dedication, love for shopping, amazing Christmas Mornings, Forced Family Fun, laughter, sleepovers with her grandchildren and her love for baking. She is survived by her husband of 43 years Joseph A. Svagdys (formerly of Whitman Ma), her daughter Andrea Svagdys-Gumbrell and son-in-law George Gumbrell of Worcester Ma, son Adam Svagdys and his wife Sara Simeone of Attleboro, her sisters-in-law Brenda Burke and Regina Smith both of Kingston MA, her grandchildren whom she adored Connor, Cadence and Lila, her nieces and nephews Jennifer, Peter, Susan, Paula, Pat, Tina, Ginny, Andy, and many grand nieces and nephews and predeceased by her nephew Luke. In heaven she joins her Mother, Father and her brothers Norman and James. She will now be able to walk, fish, and be reunited with her family all of whom she has missed so dearly. A private family memorial luncheon is planned for a future date.
