Life Legacy
Aaron Winston McMullen-Coley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on
November 2, 1993 to Danielle McMullen and George Coley.
Aaron lived in Philadelphia during his early childhood but moved to
Worcester, Massachusetts in 1999 when he was 5 years of age.
Aaron attended Tatnuck Magnet Elementary School, Elm Park Community
School, Forest Grove Middle School and Doherty Memorial High School.
He graduated from Doherty on June 6, 2012. Aaron had made plans to
attend Quinsigmond Community College in the autumn of 2012 and transfer
to Worcester State University in the future. He was interested in
pursuing an MBA, following in his father’s footsteps.
Aaron was an exceptionally intelligent and creative child from an
early age. He also exhibited a gentle spirit and a kind heart.
People will remember these qualities but also the offbeat sense of
humor that shone through in many situations. He was enjoyable to be
around; he had not a mean bone in his body. He was loved and will
continue to be loved by many, many people. In August of 2011, Aaron met the love of his life, Laura Golden, a fellow employee at Wooberry Frozen Yogurt. They moved in together just before his graduation, and made plans for their future together.
On Thursday, June 21, while in a swimming pool, Aaron suffered a
horrendous near drowning accident and was without oxygen for several
minutes. He was severely injured and it was expected that he might
not survive the night. Aaron was with us until his death on Friday, July 13, 2012. We are so grateful that God gave us the opportunity to tell him how much we love him and how proud we are of him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Danielle McMullen of
Worcester; his father, George Coley of Philadelphia; the love of his
life, Laura Golden, of Worcester; brothers George Jr. and Christian, and
sisters Tiffany and Aneesah, of Philadelphia; maternal aunts Michelle, Jocelyn and Cheryl McMullen of Worcester and uncle Jeffrey McMullen of Philadelphia; paternal uncles Alphonso and Eric of Philadelphia; his one surviving grandparent, Alice M. Canty of Worcester; his stepmother Thomasina Coley; and many additional family members including 1st, 2nd and 3rd
cousins, great aunts and uncles and friends too numerous to name.
