Robert R. (Buddy) Penny Sr., formerly of 5 Northboro Street, Worcester, MA passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

Mr. Penny was the former husband of the late Virginia Migliozzi-Penny and they were married for 52 years. Mr. Penny is survived by his five sons, Robert Penny Jr. of Auburn, MA, Lt. Col. Stephen Penny, USMC-RET of Richlands, NC, John Penny of Friendswood, TX, Anthony Penny of Hopkins, SC, and Richard Penny of Holland, MA, two daughters, Carol Houde and Ann Severance of Worcester, MA, a son-in-law Robert St. Armand, husband of the late Mary Penny-St Armand of Naples, FL and three daughter-in-laws, Leslie Penny, Dayna Penny and Joanne Grace-Penny.

Mr. Penny is survived by his brothers Samuel Penny and David Penny of Worcester, MA, and Joseph Penny and Billy Penny of Boca Raton, FL, and pre-deceased brothers, Frederick, Walter, Francis and Vincent Penny all formerly of Worcester, MA. Mr. Penny was blessed with a large, loving family of 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 33 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Penny was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade. He was a noted football and baseball player and accomplished boxer, wrestler and swimmer. Upon graduation, he worked as a welder at the Quincy Ship Yard.

Mr. Penny served his country with honor in the United States Navy during World War II. After World War II, Mr. Penny was employed by the New England Power Service Company as a lineman, welder and construction consultant. His exemplary career spanned over a period of 45 years.

Mr. Penny was a member of the St. Stephen’s Church in Worcester, MA. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Grafton Hill American Legion Post and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 96 in Worcester, MA. In addition to his love of God, country, family and work, Mr. Penny enjoyed watching sports, enjoyed traveling, loved nature and wildlife, working on family projects and socializing with family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
