Shirley T. (McCann) Rezuke

July 27, 1930 — September 1, 2018

Shirley T. (McCann) Rezuke, 88 of Worcester died peacefully Saturday September 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Her husband George Rezuke died October 20, 1994.Shirley leaves her loving family; two sons, Paul G. Rezuke and his wife Donna of West Boylston, Michael J. Rezuke and his wife Janice of Shrewsbury. Shirley was the proud grandmother to Jennie Howe and her husband James, Paul, Kathryn, Kristen, and Joseph Rezuke. She also leaves her great grandson James Howe, and her sister in laws Adele Haddad, Nancy Rezuke, Lillian Dorr, Rose Kelly, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother John McCann, and a sister Muriel McCann.

 

Shirley was born in Worcester daughter of the late Leo and Alice (Gilrein) McCann and has lived here all her life. Shirley attended Commerce High School, and worked at General Electric, Worcester Public Schools and most recently the Donut Café on June Street. Shirley was a member of the Church of St. John, and was also a longtime member of the Mt. Carmel-St Ann Golden Years Club. She loved to read, finish puzzles, play bingo, watch her New England Sports teams, and in her younger days was an avid bowler. She enjoyed being with her Golden Years friends and going on their many trips, especially to the Casino. But her most treasured times was when she was with her family. Shirley will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

 

Shirley’s family would like to thank Dr. John Kelly and the entire team at the Grove Medical Center in Auburn for their  many years of kindness and compassion, it is greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. The family would also like to thank her neighbors and her niece Denise for showing special kindness and support to her.

 

Shirley’s funeral will be held on Wednesday September 5, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 AM in the Church of St John, 40 Temple St. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday September 4, from 4PM to 7PM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be with her husband in St Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Be like Brit Foundation, 66 Pullman St. Worcester MA. 01606  or St Francis Xavier food Pantry in care of St Johns Church at the above address.
