Shirley (Todd) Russo

Shirley M. (Todd) Russo, 83 of Worcester, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away surrounded by loved ones, Tuesday, December 18, 2018. 

Shirley was born in and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Louis and Marion (Webber) Todd and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade.  Shirley then met the “Love of her Life” Thomas Russo and they married in 1960 and together began a 36-year life of family and devotion raising their children in the Grafton Hill Neighborhood of Orient Street until Tom passed away in 1996.  Shirley continued to live in her home until recently. 

Shirley worked as a Nurse aide many years for long-term care centers including Heywood Valley and the Providence House, before excepting a position she dearly loved at Sam’s Club before retiring.  After retirement, she continued to be involved in helping people by volunteering at the Worcester Senior Center. 

She is survived by three children, Edward F. “Eddy” Russo and his wife Amy of Leicester, Bruce D. Russo and his wife Diane and Beth Dyer all of Worcester; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren all of which she adored; nieces, nephews and extended family.    Besides her husband Tom, a brother Kenneth Todd also pre-deceased her.

Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church.  She loved to travel, the Red Sox and taking care of her home.    She was a quiet woman, who cherished her husband, children and grandchildren.  Her house was always filled with love and laughter, especially the holidays and special occasions when her family could always be together. 

A period of calling hours will be held Saturday, December 22^nd from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a service at 10:30 am.   Burial next to her husband Tom will follow in St John Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence Street Worcester.
