Leonard J Troio

Leonard “Len” J. Troio 82 of Worcester, retired Supervisor for the United States Post Office, died July 15 at St. Vincent Hospital.  Len leaves his beloved companion of 38 years Karen Fors, three daughters, Lori Battista and her husband Fred, Debra Troio, Melinda Hnilica, a son John L. Troio, a brother John Troio, a sister Carolyn Padavano, 5 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. 

Born in Worcester, Len was the son of John R. and Melinda (Ciullo) Troio and was a lifelong resident of the city.  After graduating from North High School, Len enlisted in the US Army and was stationed with the 2^nd Battalion, 504^th Parachute Infantry Regiment.  After his tour of duty with the Army, Len served the United States Post Office as a supervisor retiring after 32 years from the Main Post Office on Summer St. Worcester. 

Len was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans of Worcester #4, a member of the 82^nd Airborne Division Association, the American Legion Post #0318 of Worcester, the HOG motorcycle club, the NRA, the NHRA, and was best known for his love and passion for his classic cars which included his 1966 and 2008 Corvettes, his Harley Davidson motorcycle and would be found cruisin and attending the local car shows.   

Len’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 19^th, beginning at the funeral home at 9am with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church 7 Massasoit Rd. Worcester for a 10am Mass.  Interment will follow with military honors in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours for Len will be held on Wednesday July 18th from 5-7pm at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Worcester.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made in Len’s memory to help our local veterans.  Please send donations to Veterans Inc.  69 Grove St, Worcester, MA 01605.
