Josephine "Josie" (Papagni) O'Mara

Josephine “Josie” (Papagni) O’Mara, 89 of Worcester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, George O’Mara, in 2012.

Josie is survived by her five children: George O’Mara of Spencer, Rev. Dennis O’Mara of Blackstone, Kathleen Simonelli of North Grafton, Joseph O’Mara of North Brookfield, and Karen Wilson and her husband Paul of Worcester; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a brother Peter Papagni of Worcester. She was predeceased by her siblings John Papagni, Mary Holley, Lucretia Poirier, Lucy Bria and Antoinette Montonari.

Josie was the daughter of Antonio and Angelina (DiPilato) Papagni and lived most of her life in Worcester and Oxford, MA. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and worked many years as a seamstress before retiring to Florida. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, cooking and playing cards with her husband George. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, November 23rd at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial next to her husband will follow in St. John Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service.
