John J Burdulis

John J Burdulis, 75, a long time Shrewsbury and Mashpee resident passed away with “the Love of his Life” Lorretta by his side, Thursday, July 5th 2018 on the Cape.

John was born in Westfield, a son of William and Bernice (Yuskauskas) Burdulis.  Raised and educated in Worcester, John earned a degree in engineering from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute and accepted a position with the New England Telephone Company.  Rising through the ranks, he dedicated himself to the phone company for over 44 years before retiring as manager of Network services in Marlborough for the Verizon Corporation. 

John is survived by his wife, Lorretta (Sledziewski) Burdulis,  with whom he would have celebrated 52 years of married life yesterday, July 9th;  Four children he was so proud of and loved dearly, Suzanne Burdulis of Dudley, Thomas J. Burdulis and his wife Cynthia of Worcester, Charles S. Burdulis and his wife, Amy of New Bem, N. Carolina, Eric F. Burdulis and his wife Christine of Worcester;  a brother, Jerome Burdulis of Naples, Florida; a sister, Bernice Fernandez of Dade County, Florida; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Tyler, Vincenza, Anthony and Lia; Many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.  A brother, Vincent Burdulis pre deceased him.

John was a member of St Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury and Christ the King Church in Mashpee and the Telephone pioneers organization. .  A quiet, unpretentious, man who devoted his life to his wife, family and his job; John was extremely handy with his hands and able to fix almost any job that needed it.  John could routinely be found, fixing or helping construct things at his home, his children’s, or anyone that needed it or asked for help.   John enjoyed travel, both with Lorretta and for business over the years.  During the Vietnam era, John served in the U.S. Air Force reserve.   In his children’s youth, John coached baseball for the Tris Speaker Little league. 

Friends and relatives re invited to calling hours, Tuesday, July 10th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.   His funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 11th from the funeral home with a procession to St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where his celebration of life will be celebrated at 10:30 am.  Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
