Henry R Paolino

Henry R. Paolino, 90, a lifelong Worcester resident the best husband, father, and grandfather we could ask for passed away with his loved ones gathered at his bedside Sunday, August 19th 2018, joining his daughter Kathleen A. Paolino in heaven who passed away in 1987.  

Henry was born, raised and lived his life in the Lake View neighborhood of Worcester, a son of Dominic and Ann (Caffereli) Paolino.  A member of the “Greatest Generation”, he attended Boys Trade and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving his country proudly.   In 1950, Henry married Beverly A. Martin and began a 68 years life of Love, Family and Dedication raising and caring for his family.   Henry provided for his family over 25 years as a T.V. repair technician for the Sears, Roebuck Company before retiring in 1990. 

Henry is survived by his love Beverly; his daughter, Deborah J. Lucier and her husband Joseph A.  of Worcester; the two granddaughters he adored and who adored him, Christina M. and Amy L. Sliwoski; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.   The remaining child of nine, his two brothers, Pasquale and James Paolino, and six sisters, Josephine Toronto, Laura Gunderson, Esther Mulligan, Mary Wasilak, Vera Sbrogna and Lucy Maleta all predeceased him.   

Henry was a member of the former St Margaret Mary Church and a member of the Eastside Improvement Club.  An avid golfer, He could be mostly found on the courses of Green hill and anywhere he was asked to play.  Notably, Henry recorded a hole in one while playing a course in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.   He was also an exceptional Chess player, who was hard to beat.  Henry also enjoyed fishing, reading and his beloved Dog Jake.  

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday, August 22nd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  His funeral service will be held in the funeral home, Thursday, August 23rd at 10:00 am.  Burial with Navy Honors will follow in St John Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452
