David Stephen Schwartz

August 19, 1964 — December 26, 2018

David S. Schwartz, 54, died December 26, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He leaves his wife, Diane (Cutroni) Mohieldin-Schwartz of Worcester, his parents Dorothy “Tootie” (Paulauskas) and David E. Schwartz of Worcester, his step-sons Adam Mohieldin of Boylston and Amir Mohieldin of Worcester.  He also leaves his sister Donna and her husband Steve Grech of Los Angeles, CA, his brother Stephen and his wife Jennifer of Scottsdale, AZ, his adored nieces and nephew Olivia, Katie & Teddy, his mother-in-law Barbara Cutroni and brother-in-law James S. Cutroni both of Holden.  Also left behind are many close cousins, aunts and uncles, as well as his sidekick Snickers and the cockatiel he has been babysitting for the last 9 years, Charlie.

David also leaves behind his estranged daughter Meghan Halloran Maroney for whom he deeply regretted that he could not find a way to make things right with her.

David was born in Worcester and grew up in Cherry Valley.  He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar school in Leicester and graduated from St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury in 1982.  He earned his Associates Degree at Worcester Industrial Technical Institute.  He was a talented woodworker and tinkerer, and owned his own business, Artisans Woodworking.  He worked for many exhibit and millwork shops over the years, but he was the proudest of the time he spent at the Worcester Science Center, building exhibits and running the Spitz, of his service to the City of Worcester as the warden of precinct 7-2, and of obtaining his Construction Supervisor License.  He could fix just about anything and he filled his home with the beautiful things he made.  He loved his family, singing, dancing with his wife, dancing by himself, telling stories, taking naps in his hammock, staring in to a campfire, driving his Tundra, hanging out at Crates to Credenzas, complaining about everyone else’s bad driving, and trying hard not to think about what was outside his hoola-hoop.

He would have thought this obituary was way too long.

David’s family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the UMass Memorial 6th Floor ICU for their kindness and skill.  They became part of our family during David’s final days. Thank you for the care you gave all of us.
