Rosalie (Ferranto) Gentile, 85 of Shrewsbury, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at home with her loving family at her side. Rosalie survived her husband of 61 years, Joseph A. Gentile. She leaves her son, Michael Gentile and his wife Lisa of Westborough; two daughters, Annette Whitcomb and her husband Eugene of Surfside Beach, SC and Judy Simoncini and her husband Donald of Worcester; two brothers, Raymond Ferranto of West Boylston and Peter Ferranto of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Rose DiRado of Marlborough and Grace Lonzo of Fitchburg; four beloved grandchildren, Brian Cronin, Sara Lebron, Justin and Michael Gentile, many nieces and nephews. Rosalie was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Grace (DiBenedetto) Ferranto. She later moved to Shrewsbury in the mid 1950's and has lived there ever since. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was very active in the activities at Shrewsbury Crossing where she lived. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends, go to Foxwood's, play bingo, and most of all spend time with her grandchildren. Services for Rosalie will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, February 6th from 2-4 p.m. in the funeral home.
